ABBA

When ABBA filmed the ABBA In Switzerland special for the BBC in February 1979 they were still working on their forthcoming album. Some songs were finished and others were half done.
On this show ABBA performed some hits like Take A Chance On Me but also new songs like Kisses Of Fire and The King Has Lost His Crown.
They also performed a song with a Bjorn lead called Does Your Mother Know. This song had a piano intro and a rocky feel to it. When the album (to be called Voulez Vous) was released some two months later this song had a drum intro and had a disco feel to it.
That first version would end up on bootlegs for years to come.

Hi Ron,

I could probably write something in Dutch, but for the sake of the Internet I'll keep it to English.
I've always loved ABBA in Switzerland, they all looked great and fresh. That other version of Does your mother know is to die for, it's maybe even better than the official one.
On the other hand, the in between banter of the four is cringeworthy. They were clearly reading their "jokes" from the autocue. Ah well, I'll forgive them! It was funny to see their reaction when a person from the audience shouted when Benny mentioned the long and cold winternights in Sweden!
Love your site I check it as often as I can!
